DAZN has secured non-exclusive broadcast rights to La Liga until 2027 after signing a five year deal. The arrangement begins at the start of the 2022/23 campaign and runs through the end of the 2026/27 term. As part of the agreement, DAZN exclusively broadcasts five games per matchday on its OTT platform.
Spanish telco Telefónica has successfully re-negotiated its broadcast rights for LaLiga, covering Spain and Andorra. This renewed TV deal follows a regulatory re-evaluation of their initial agreement with LaLiga spanning from 2021 to 2027. The re-acquisition, effective from the latter half of the 2024/25 season to the end of the 2026/27 season, is in response to the Spanish competition regulator CNMC's concerns. CNMC had contended that Telefónica's acquisition of pay TV operator Digital+ constrained it from holding rights for a period exceeding three years. Under the new arrangement, valued at approximately €1.29 billion, Telefónica may continue broadcasting five LaLiga games per matchday through its digital subscription platform Movistar+. It has also agreed to exclusively cover three match weeks in both the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons. The financial commitment involves €250 million for the latter half of the 2024/25 season, increasing to €520 million for each of the following full seasons. This revised contract aligns Telefónica's rights period with DAZN's existing contract for consistent LaLiga coverage.
