ORF broadcasts four co-exclusive Austrian Bundesliga matches live every season from 2022-23 to 2025-26. The public-service network obtained free-to-air rights for the 2022-2026 cycle following a sublicense deal with Sky Osterreich, who has direct access to all 195 matches each season. ORF, which also televised some of the action in previous league campaigns, continues to show Bundesliga match highlights on its commercial TV channels, in addition to ORF LIVE, its official web streaming portal restricted to users on Austrian territory. The broadcaster’s Android and iOS mobile app ORF ON (TVthek) also provides live streaming and on-demand access to the Austrian Bundesliga matches and highlights that are aired on television.
Public service broadcaster ORF has maintained media rights for the UEFA Champions League in Austria until 2024 after securing a three-year extension on its prior deal. As per the terms of its deal with UEFA, ORF broadcasts one Champions League game per matchweek, plus all matches involving Austrian teams if they are involved in the tournament proper. In addition, the network also offers some bonus coverage, including limited highlights of matches.
The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation has acquired Austrian rights to the 2022 World Cup. The multi-platform broadcaster is set to show 39 matches exclusively on its networks, most of which are scheduled on ORF1. The package comprises both the World Cup opening match and the final. This amounts to around 120 hours of live World Cup action from Qatar with German-language commentary. Online streaming service ORF TVthek is included in the deal along with the ORF app, which means that ORF’s selection of World Cup games can be viewed on various portable devices in high definition. ORF’s World Cup 2022 coverage may also be viewed in public spaces, such as bars, hotels, restaurants, and theatres. Extracts from the matches may be accessed on ORF’s social media outlets on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
ORF owns the Austrian multi-platform and free-to-air broadcasting rights of the 2018-19 and 2020-21 UEFA Nations League editions in Austria. ORF has also acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2020 Euro Cup. ORF will be the official broadcaster covering the Austrian Men's National Team matches until 2022.
