RTE maintains its non-exclusive broadcast rights for the UEFA Champions League in Ireland from the 2024-25 season through to the 2026-27 season after successfully renewing its previous three-year deal that covered the 2021-22 to 2023-24 seasons. The free-to-air broadcaster has its pick of one Champions League match per week on TV and online. Viewers can watch select Champions League matches on TV via RTE 2 for free, while live streaming is available via RTE’s website or RTE Player. RTE Player is accessible through various devices such as laptops, mobiles, tablets, desktop computers, and smart TVs.
RTE also provides highlights from all Champions League matches and offers additional bonus content, including the UEFA Champions League Magazine program, which contains interviews, match analysis, and dedicated player and team features. Additional Champions League programming and shows are available on demand on RTE Player, along with a full weekly replay of the network’s match night coverage via the Champions League Live program. Despite the web version of RTE Player providing content internationally for free, its UEFA Champions League-related content is restricted outside Ireland due to imposed geo-restrictions associated with RTE’s media rights agreement with UEFA.
