Sky Osterreich broadcasts live Austrian Bundesliga matches on linear television, online services and mobile platforms in Austria. Sky Osterreich Fernsehen GmbH acquired the Austrian Bundesliga media rights in 2021, with the deal spanning the 2022-2026 cycle. The four-year agreement is reportedly worth EUR 160 million, or EUR 40 million annually until June 2026, and grants Sky Austria the main Bundesliga license, albeit non-exclusive. The main license makes the pay-TV broadcaster the league’s global rights partner while also providing a package for restaurants, hotels and other commercial premises. Football fans can watch up to four Austrian Bundesliga matches live on free-to-air television every season and online post-match highlights.
This deal extends Sky and Bundesliga’s partnership, which started in 1999. Every week, Sky subscribers can watch the games on linear TV networks or stream the Austrian Bundesliga live on the Sky Go app designed for Android, iOS, Huawei AppGallery, Windows PC, and macOS. Since the start of the broadcast rights contract, Sky Osterreich has offered Bundesliga games, highlights, match interviews and additional shows to its viewers via its dedicated “Sport” package, which comprises several other leagues and features its main linear channels, Sky Sport 1, through Sky Sport 5.
Sky Österreich is the exclusive broadcaster for the Premier League in Austria until the end of the 2024/25 season. The network successfully extended its broadcast rights to the Premier League in 2022 in a three-year deal until the conclusion of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
