Public service broadcaster ZDF has partnered with fellow public network operator ARD to show the 2022 World Cup live in Germany on free-to-air television. ZDF’s World Cup package includes the opening match, as well as the German national team’s second group-stage match against Spain. Should Germany make it to the knockout rounds, the nation’s Round of 16 and possible semifinal fixtures would air live on ZDF. All of ZDF’s 2022 World Cup matches are expected to be streamed live on the network’s official website, as well as on the ZDFmediathek & Live TV app.
ARD and ZDF own the broadcasting rights of the UEFA Nations League for the German territory. The agreement covers the first two editions: 2018-19 and 2020-21 and will see ARD and ZDF combining to show coverage of the German Men's National team as well as other matches in the bi-annual event.
